Becoming Superhuman

Becoming Superhuman, is about wanting to be more than the average guy, It means stretching yourself, testing yourself, and ever seeking to become everything you can be as an existing human being.

Superhuman- adj: having or showing exceptional ability or powers.

According to definition, a superhuman is one that exceeds “normal human power, size or capability. Superhuman abilities can be defined by comparing them to average human feats.

Superhuman speed is relative to the average and expected human speed. Superhuman also can defy the circumstances they are faced with, those who succeed after being told they will fail, those who walk after being told by medical science they won’t be able to or those who has risen to the occasion after odds are stacked against them in all levels.

So how does one become superhuman, from the things I’ve watched, either you get hit by lightning, strike a deal with an ancient wizard or have evil scientists work on you, but that is just impossible; until I think about the greatest superhero of all time, in my books anyway.

Batman, The Dark Knight, World’s greatest detective.

Ever since I started investing in myself, I am almost embarrassed to say that Batman, even if you would not believe, a fictional character has been my role model. I have Batman’s daily schedule, training routines and diet. When I need to make quick decisions at work or during my training, I would jokingly ask myself what would Batman do and proceed with what I think Batman does. The thing that inspired me most is that this guy is not even a metahuman, but with all of his feats he is considered to be the most dangerous human by all of the superheroes you ever knew.

Becoming superhuman involves reaching ever greater heights in all areas of our lives: physical, mental, moral, and spiritual.

Improve on your knowledge, one of Batman’s greatest weapons is his mind, his knowledge in chemistry, biology, computer science and more makes him capable of inventing, developing and improving his arsenal, weaponry and information gathering abilities, not only is he well versed with practical smarts but also in business and technology. To round this up his Social Intelligence can never be missed, as the world’s greatest detective he is well versed in knowing human behavior and psychology not only through reading books but from face-to-face experiences. As a philanthropist Bruce Wayne holds multiple social gatherings and parties, not for reasons like getting shit faced and intoxication but for humanitarian and educational purposes, socializing with different people is as much as an education on its own when trying to improve intelligence in that regard. With his expertise in this aspect some call him a womanizer because of his extreme charisma, and it only helps that he takes care of his body as any man should. A regular guy with looks, money and charms would totally sway on the other side of this discussion but because of Batman’s total control of his mind, body and spirit he keeps himself grounded and even avoids drinking and hooking up unless it’s necessary for his goals.

Become strong and then even stronger, a big part of the persona of a superhero is his physique, with it, comes that body’s abilities, hence, to be a superhuman you must be able bodied and strong. This section of the article should not be even explained, if you want to become a superhuman you must train your body like one, nowadays being strong can mean a lot of things, but nothing is as clear as a physically strong body, a body that can fight, that can protect and that is healthy. Batman is not the only superhero that has a strong body. Everyone you consider a superhero has a strong fighting body, this is non-negotiable, train and go to the gym, lift heavy shit and become even stronger than you already are.

Acquire fighting skills, to be able to protect yourself and the people around you, you have to be strong as an individual, if you pair this with fighting skills or martial arts, now were talking, not only are you already better than the average person but you have now a skill that you can use as a tool to become healthier in body, spirit and mind. Batman apparently knows 127 martial arts, now I’m not saying you go and try to do 10 or more, 1 should be enough, but since we are talking about how to become superhuman I am citing Batman as an example, he is feared by most because of his ability to fight anyone, anywhere in any battlefield, he might not be a black belt in all 127 styles but he is well versed with them. It is good to learn martial arts for a lot of reasons, but I believe that one of the most important things I have learned is the destruction of one’s ego. I have been in many fist fights in my life and I would like to think that I won every time but when I started Jiu-Jitsu I was losing every day, little did I know I was also getting better compared to my old self. I would totally destroy my old self in a fight compared to what I am now. Learning martial arts or acquiring a fighting skill not only provides you with weapons of the body but also a disciplined attitude that will surely become more useful than you’ll ever realize, because life is always a fist fight.

Become resilient, the road to becoming super is a hard one, if you are familiar with most of superheroes stories they became heroes not by fighting and defeating just one enemy, but countless. In real life your enemies might not be real people, the real fight happens within you every day, improving knowledge is not by reading one book, but by reading information on a compounding basis, 1,2,3,4 to a 1000 pages every day, every week and so on, listening to podcasts, reading novels, learning in classes, meetings etc.

Social intelligence can not only be learned in books but by multiple experiences may that be human interaction, an interview or conflict within your workplace, becoming strong does not happen within a week or a month it is the years that you put in, the unholy hours where no one is looking and you still go to the gym, when you’re tired but still lifted those weights when there is a party and you did not drink the extra shot, the injuries you sustained and the pain you overcame, the failures and cramps you experienced are all part of becoming strong and with that the discipline to still come back.

Acquiring fighting skills cannot happen in one class, it’s those times were you get knocked down and stand back up, and learned how to block the same uppercut after 45 tries, after you get tapped and submitted with the same armbar by a guy weaker than you, when you finally can spar for full 3 minutes instead of hyperventilating after 1 minute and then you still go back for classes the next day, next week, month and then years later.

So, if super means going over and beyond something, being superhuman means living a life over and beyond that of the normal, average person. Being part of the top percentage, the human elite, who refuse to accept mediocrity in any aspect of life.

The average man spends his days sitting, watching Netflix and video games the superhuman man works to keep himself in peak physical condition, aims to move to avoid rusting and trains to be strong.

The average man hardly ever opens a book; the superhuman man dedicates life to learning, constantly feeding his mind with books, magazines, podcasts and infinitely widening his horizons.

The average man is content with immediate pleasures and materialistic goods; the superhuman man explores the greater meaning in life explores deeper meaning in his existence and spends time to meditate and pray.
