What have you done so far?

There are times when I struggle what to write on this website, for most authors it is probably harder for them not having to write than to be in the process of writing. It’s hard to come up with ideas and new topics to talk about, most of the time my work becomes repetitive in nature not because I try and stick to a certain niche but because the experiences and life I live follow a predictable path, I am a creature of habit and most of my days are usually predetermined and planned a day or even a week before. Right now as I am typing these words, I am completely bummed out because at a certain time on a day I sit down in front of a computer and just type words. What I came up just popped in my head literally minutes ago. I am afraid that whatever is going on inside of my head sometimes will just die with me if I forget to write about it. I talk about it a lot amongst my peers but I think writing about it will make it tangible, because the internet will surely outlast me and most of my ideas will be here. Then at the very least I’d have some sort of contribution to this world.

Sharing your gifts to the world

Contributions that are of great magnitude are not the ones based on selfish acts but rather ones that are based upon making the future brighter for others. The scientific breakthroughs, the fine arts that lived through time, the movies or books that became part of our culture. The idea that we are here to make the world a better place for each other and for the next generation makes life more meaningful and worthwhile.

In 1921 Albert Einstein won a Nobel peace prize for his work, the general theory of relativity, one of the greatest contributions in modern science, to this day Einstein’s theory is still going strong. However, at that time rather than rest on his laurels Einstein worked well into the 1950’s, 30 years after he secured the highest achievement in the field of science, he was still working, continuously transforming himself not only because he is passionate about his work but because he knew he could do more and therefore contribute more to his chosen field.

He believed that he can achieve and wring out the last drop of greatness out of him even through severe pain and affliction that would last days, weeks and months because of an illness that he eventually succumbed to. in April 1955 Albert Einstein died from a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm and his last words were: “I have done my share, it is time to go. I will do it elegantly.”

Dangers of not utilizing and sharing your gifts

I have read an article about a woman named Vivian Maier, sadly you must not have heard anything about this person. Maier is nothing but a nanny in her lifetime, when she passed away the world of creative arts did not mourn her or recognize anything about her. Vivian Maier is an unknown world class artist in her own right, but how come?

In 2007 A man named John Maloof bought $400 worth of negatives, prints and unedited videos from an auction house. The owner? Unknown. Later on they discovered the beauty and rarity of the gem they found and learned that all of those were shot by a woman named Vivian Maier. Maier’s eye has been regarded by many to be highly skilled and one who has an artistic photographic sense. She focused on subjects like children, the poor and the marginalized while performing day to day activities. Now after the unboxing of Maier’s unpublished work, exhibits of it have travelled all throughout the world and is now being studied.

Her story is a great lesson that all within us is a great creator and genius, our passions and creativity must not be kept inside dusty old boxes to die but rather be shared so then future generations can learn and become an inspiration for many.

Every one of us has been blessed with gifts and it is up to us to utilize those talents and gifts, more importantly, it is up to us to share those gifts, at this point I always remind myself of the things that I could do, I live one life and have the chance to affect people’s lives through my writing and by simply living and exploring my full potential, I am writing now not because I want to impress anyone, but because I loved writing even when I was a kid, incidentally I am doing it because somewhere and somehow you are reading this piece, and if I change something in you even just by a little bit, then I have done my share, I’m happy I helped you.

I now leave you with one of the most motivating stories I have ever came across with, after reading this and I’m pretty sure I have listened to it as well, it definitely lit a fire within me.

“Imagine if you’re on your death bed – And standing around your bed – the ghosts of the ideas, the dreams, the abilities, the talents given to you by life.

And that you for whatever reason, you never acted on those ideas, you never pursued that dream, you never used those talents, we never saw your leadership, you never used your voice, you never wrote that book.

And there they are standing around your bed looking at you with large angry eyes saying we came to you, and only you could have given us life! Now we must die with you forever.

The question is – if you die today what ideas, what dreams, what abilities, what talents, what gifts, would die with you?”
