Everybody wants success, no one wished to be a loser, however there are some who would like to live a simpler life. Whether it is one’s childhood dream to succeed in a certain profession or someone who strives to be competent at something he or she is passionate about, the ultimate end for all of it is to achieve success. However, all people could see are the positives, people will go through it all thinking that ones they succeed that will be the end of it, No, it won’t end. Ones you think you are at the top of your game there are more challenges you need to partake just to stay there. If you want to move up again that’s a whole new different level of extra suffering, so don’t ever think that it will end this is where the talented, passionate and enduring people gets separated so to speak.
Not everybody will get why you’re doing what you’re doing, and vice versa, some people will marvel at your work ethic, while some people laugh at it, some people will not be able to resonate with you because they think it’s ridiculous to do what you do, while others wonder why you’re only doing that much. I’d like to explore more about this on a separate piece.
So for now, let’s stick to this one:
Everything has an associated problem; everything!
From the most basic of things like food, water and air, everything has an associated problem. So as success, the question is which success-problem combo are you willing to commit to.
The Best-selling authors/ writers, in able to achieve the ever coveted adjective attached to your name, the Author must have spent countless of hours writing the piece, not including the time for researching a topic and time not spent with loved ones. For some, the rejections endured from different publishing companies and the amount of time and dollars spent to produce and advertise the book.
“Man is sometimes extraordinarily, passionately, in love with suffering.”
– Fyodor Dostoevsky
The Award winning actor, the tremendous pressure to portray a role, the numerous castings and auditions one must take to make it in the movie industry, the scrutiny, sadness, depression and lack of privacy in celebrities’ lives are easy to overlook, because some people do not see it as a problem, but most successful celebrities do wish they live a normal life.
“I think the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy. Because they know what it’s like to feel absolutely worthless and they don’t want anybody else to feel like that.”
-Robin Williams
The World class artist, without the art these artists produce they would risk being jobless, this industry is a risky business, some artists solely rely on their work just so they can make ends meet, if they stop making art that means they stop working, the countless amount of practice, trials, errors and rejections these artists endure just to sell a piece, in hopes of it becoming a world class art piece and forever be etched in the history books is one of the more challenging paths.
“I have moments when I am twisted with enthusiasm or madness or prophecy… but in spite of all that, my spirits are very low, as if one were lying bound hand and foot at the bottom of a deep dark well, utterly helpless.”
-Vincent Van Gogh
The Olympic athlete, the world’s best athletes can be found in the Olympics, they have focused most, if not all of their energy and god given talents to compete in a single endeavor, in order to represent and carry a whole country on their backs, the amount of training and the times they spend training are the equivalent of their life’s work just to show up in an event that happens ones in every four years.
“I trained 4 years to run 9 seconds.”
-Usain Bolt
The Elite Martial artist, to become elite, a martial artist must have garnered a lot of success in his discipline, the amount of training and drilling one performs on a daily basis continuously improving on a system, the injuries one must overcome and the dedication to show up every day in a fight or in a class, hindering them of other interests just to be able to stay in the course of their chosen discipline.
“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”
-Bruce Lee
The Brilliant Academic, for these people life’s greatest purpose is to leave something behind that will live on, that is their legacy, the contribution they provided humanity is worth more to them than living a happy merry life, the amount of research and hours spent figuring out equations and solutions to the most complex of questions, the time consumed and energy exhausted to provide a definite answer to theories that were hunched over for decades. We stand on the shoulders of these giants, the field of their study are never forgotten and will be studied even after everyone’s passing unless proven otherwise by other giants.
“I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success . . . Such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything.”
–Nikola Tesla
